Tuchel Criticizes Wembley Crowd Support Despite Comfortable Wales Victory.

The England head coach voiced his disappointment that the England team did not receive stronger support from the home spectators during their commanding friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was happy to see his squad maintain their winning momentum, with finishes from Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Saka inside the opening quarter effectively ending the contest. Yet, he was displeased with the energy at the iconic venue.

“We had limited sessions to get ready against a organized team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel remarked. “It could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We missed the additional ones. There was little noise. We didn’t get support from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in 20 minutes? We prevented them get away. If you hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s sad because the team deserved more support today.”

“I stand by this statement. There’s nothing more than leading three goals up in a derby. I hoped for a bit more backing in phases where it gets difficult.”

“After halftime, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It might have aided us to regain energy, but that’s football and that is it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Performance

Away from potentially starting a fight with supporters, the manager also caused a stir by omitting Jude Bellingham and Foden from his squad. Yet the move was validated by Morgan Rogers excelling in the No 10 position and getting his first international goal.

“That’s his style,” the head coach noted. “He is a No 10 and he is fighting for his position.”

Bellamy Seeks Lessons from Loss

The Wales manager hopes that Wales, who face a strong Belgian side in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Monday, improve after their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“This is why I wanted this game,” Bellamy said. “I wanted to assess our standing. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? This performance fills me with inspiration.”

Fitness Worry for Watkins

Watkins was taken off at the break after clattering into a goalpost and is a concern when the national team face their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
