UK Armed Forces Facilities to House Refugee Applicants in Bid to Cease Hotel-Based Usage
Hundreds asylum seekers may be housed in military barracks as the authorities works to end the use of temporary lodging.
Talks are in progress regarding the conversion of two facilities - one in Scotland and another in the south of England - for accommodation for 900 male individuals.
The government leader has instructed Interior Ministry and Military Ministry authorities to expedite initiatives to find appropriate armed forces locations.
The government has committed to end the utilization of refugee hotels, which have required billions in funds and become a primary concern for immigration opposition demonstrations.
Planned Military Locations
Asylum seekers could be accommodated in the Cameron military facility in the Scottish city and Crowborough army training camp in East Sussex by the conclusion of the coming month.
Commercial facilities, short-term shelter and previously unused facilities are also being examined for possible utilization.
Authorities Assurances
Authoritative figures confirmed that each location would adhere to wellbeing requirements.
"We are deeply troubled at the scale of illegal migrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"The current leadership will shut down all refugee hotels. Efforts are well underway, with additional appropriate locations being brought forward to ease pressure on local areas and reduce migrant housing expenditures."
Current Housing Data
Approximately thirty-two thousand asylum seekers are at this time being sheltered in hotel facilities, representing a reduction from a high point of over 56 thousand in last year.
A newly released analysis found that substantial amounts of public funds had been "wasted" on refugee housing.
Previous Defense Facility Operation
Two ex-armed forces locations - the Wethersfield facility in southeastern England and former military base in southeastern England - are presently being operated to shelter asylum seekers after being commissioned under the previous government.
The Prime Minister stated on the circumstances, saying: "I am committed to terminate each temporary accommodation facility. I can't tell you how disappointed and concerned I am that we've been left with a challenge as significant as these developments by the former leadership."
