Chopper Spirals Out of Control into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Shoreline
A chopper hovering near a crowded California beach suddenly started spinning uncontrollably, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a cluster of palm fronds as beachgoers looked on.
Recordings posted on the internet depict the chopper beginning to twirl over the shoreline then descending in the direction of the perimeter of the coast, where it ends up lodged between palms and a steps close to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Details
Local firefighters said five individuals were taken to hospital comprising two who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the accident on Saturday.
Three persons on the road were hurt. Details on their wounds were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
